About Scouts
Scouts (ages 12–15) focus on building real leadership, self-reliance, and hands-on capability through challenging outdoor experiences. Meeting weekly during school terms, Scouts master advanced skills like hill-walking, navigation, pioneering, and campcraft before putting them to work on multi-night camps, mini-expeditions, water sports, and major events like the Phoenix Patrol Challenge or international Jamborees. Organized into small, youth-led teams called Patrols within a larger Troop, Scouts operate under the guidance of a Patrol Leader (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leader (APL), with every member holding a distinct role. Guided by adult Scouters, Patrol Leaders help design and run their own activities through the Patrol Leader’s Council, driving teamwork, active citizenship, and true independence.
Willington has 1 Scout Troop, meeting on Thursday evenings.
